That’s because many of the orthodox magazines and newspapers won’t allow images of women, in deference to the very orthodox men who read them. The organization is called Ner Echad, and one of its key ideas to bring women together is to have them light Shabbos and Yom Tov candles with the organization — and all Jewish women worldwide — in mind. Karen, my wife, has a great idea: lets do a mosaic image of the Shabbos lights made up of hundreds of tiny images of women lighting.
